The walk-out jacket from the first collaboration between a museum and a football club, now held in the V&A permanent collection.
Wood Street Walls brought together the William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow FC and British sportswear manufacturer Admiral to launch a full kit and training range for the 23/24 season. Full access to the Gallery's archive allowed the design team to explore its collection of textiles and wallpapers, digitally re-drawing and colour-matching the chosen pattern to be sublimated onto the clothing, taking over a hundred hours of research and design.
The walk-out jacket carries the sublimated William Morris archive design across the full garment. It is the piece the squad wears onto the pitch.
The kit from this collaboration won a D&AD award and is held in the V&A's permanent collection. The original run was small and finite. This page stays online as a record of what was made.
